Jazz Age Dancer

Jazz Age Dancer

Game by siamesa

The Roaring Twenties were a revolutionary decade in fashion. Whether she's dancing to a victrola with friends or to a band onstage, dress your doll in newfangled frocks, dangling beads, and sparkling headdresses. Make it a party by adding companions, including one of the decade's most popular dogs, the Boston Terrier.

Almost everything in this game is based on real items and illustrations from the period - with thanks again to the wonderful resources at VintageDancer.com! The historical twenties had a lot more going on than just the feathers and fringe popular in revivals - with everything from Egyptian revival items inspired by the opening of King Tut's tomb to Spanish shawls and raccoon coats. Makeup also took off in this decade, with dramatic, colorful looks not only on the face, but, for the daring, on your newly exposed knees.

Brush credits to MoFox and FireAlpaca. One background is in fact a vintage postcard of one of my favorite twenties locales - the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. (Grove Park Inn from Golf Course, Asheville, N.C. "In the Land of the Sky" in North Carolina Postcard Collection (P052), North Carolina Collection Photographic Archives, Wilson Library, UNC-Chapel Hill).

Feel free to check out more of my art at 247reader.tumblr.com - I'd love to see what you've made, there or on Discord!
