A Memory (Laurel)

I recall the day I knew this was going to be the only career for me. It was the spring after I turned 15. I did not think of the consequences of my choice. All of my clothes that day had been borrowed from my aunts except for my boots. They were my first pair of hiking boots, gifted to me by my uncle the year before. I do not consider myself a sentimental person, but I have cherished them since the day I first wore them. Unlike many others, I do not regret that day.
